Since december 2012 Battlestations: Midway is supported by GameSpy no longer. The only one possibility for Midway players is GameRanger. Please visit www.gameranger.com, download Gameranger client and make new account. You can find other Midway players in the Gameranger rooms. BS:M patch 1.1.1 is required to play online battles. Iowa Mission Pack and Midway Modders Mappacks 1 and 2 are recommended.

AWP - Map 2 a.k.a Air battle over Japan

The 1st map I worked on was the famous Battle of Sibuyan Sea from BSM. I got an idea to make a new map similar to Luzon. This map is called Air Battle over Japan. The scenario is a squad of 5 bombers are trying to make their way to safety. The Japanese must successfully escort them while the US must intercept. The US use Mustangs and the japanese Georges. Midway a squad of 20mm cannon equiped Hurricanes arrive to help and the Japanese respond with a squad of Raidens (both these squads are AI). Each player has only one squadron to use but if the squadron is destroyed, a new one will spawn (for the Japanese a kilometre in front of the bombers and the US at the bomber destination). This map is fast, merciless and full of action.

It's crazy!! 20 US and 20 JP fighters going at it in a sort of small map with a 5 plane bomber formation in the middle of it with additional Hurricanes and Raidens appearing to aid either side during the game. So you can easily have almost 50 planes going at it. it is the most epic dogfight ever!! Oh and the US Plane action and JP Plane action plays while this is happening ag

Ok I think this map is done. Now I'm just waiting for the george to be imported. In the meantime I'm making the final touches to Sibuyan before starting map 3 a.k.a. Ten-Go

I'm really happy how this map came out. The AI works like a charm and puts up a good fight (if playing skirmish mode). The mission starts a bit slow but within 2 minutes it's a madhouse. The mission lasts anything from 2:43 to 4:44 minutes (based on a few tests). AWP will be huge

This map was a 3. Sibuyan was an 8 but if I must make that same map now it will be a 4. The reason was Sibuyan was the 1st map I made and learnt everything there ie removing infinite spawn (stocks, physical takeoff and landing) and slots, importing islands, basically building Midway style into the maps from scratch and then obviously cracking the lua code to enable scripting(objectives, AI, events, etc.)

  • The Dictator : Makeo67 i've explained how to find the unused slots in the topic and the mmod2txm it's a program that has been shared. However there aren't so many ships with unused platforms and sme of them are in wrong positions and for move them you need to know how to change the mmod file. But if you know how to do it you can make new platfors as you want. I've shared the south dakota disposition and this one is the most intersting in my opinion
