Since december 2012 Battlestations: Midway is supported by GameSpy no longer. The only one possibility for Midway players is GameRanger. Please visit www.gameranger.com, download Gameranger client and make new account. You can find other Midway players in the Gameranger rooms. BS:M patch 1.1.1 is required to play online battles. Iowa Mission Pack and Midway Modders Mappacks 1 and 2 are recommended.

A new map pack

A new map pack

It has come to my attention that our modding team has been (at least partly) broken up. If the game's multiplayer is to remain fresh and appealing then we need another map pack, with new units, new maps, and new battles. Anyone who would be interested in helping to make a map pack can post here. I know how to modify individual maps (adding units, islands, changing the time, etc) however I do not posses the knowledge to add new units, islands or buildings (to the game itself, I know how to add to a map) also, my placing of bases is quite unreliable. I may or may not be able to do the objectives, as i have not yet experimented with those, but i am fairly confident i know how to add and fine tune them.

We NEED at least 1 modeler, 1 person capable of adding new units/islands/buildings, 1 objective adder, and someone with good knowledge of modifying individual maps (I am experienced, but not enough to be able to set up a map completely on my own).

Anyone wishing to help out or object should post here. Also, if it turns out that the modding team ARE working on new content still, then that's great.

Re: A new map pack

I have modified version of the original multiplayer map "Islands of Solomon" (new name is "Battle of the Solomon Islands II", map ID = 40)         - Change log:
"Yorktown" renamed "Hornet"
Added 1 BB and 1 Cruiser (US: DeRuyter. Japanese: Mogami) to each side, which are primary objectives. Old objectives are still in game.
Changed Shipyard units:
Allied Shipyard 1 can now launch 2 CAs (Northampton class) and 20 destroyers (Fletcher class). (Each has individual, historically accurate name).
Allied Shipyard 2 can now launch 20 Elco PT Boats.
Japanese Shipyard 1 can now launch 2 CAs (Tone class) and 20 destroyers (Fubuki class). (Each has individual, historically accurate name).
Japanese Shipyard 2 can now launch 20 Japanese PT Boats.

All names for ships do exist, they were not made up. PT names are all simply "Elco PT Boat" (US) or "Gyoraitei" (Japanese).

Please comment and say whether you think this map will be any fun or just a ruined copy of an existing map. Any and all opinions/views welcome.

Re: A new map pack

Here are the files, they must be placed into C:/Program Files (x86)/Battlestations Midway/mpak. Be sure not to place the folder inside the mpak folder or the game will crash. You MUST install Midway Modders Mappack 1 and 2 BEFORE installing this mod or the game will crash. I recommend you backup your game before you install this mod. DO NOT try to open the briefing when in-game or the game will crash! I have not managed to get it working yet. Please do not claim this map as your own, as everyone who sees this will know you are lying and I will not be pleased. Here is a link to the required files:

Re: A new map pack

Map 1 - "Battle of the Solomon Islands II" is now downloadable! (for Battlestations Midway). Please comment and leave your opinions/suggestions for updates here! Sorry, the map is nothing special, but I was the only one working on it which left only my limited creativity. I hope to work on more maps soon, they will be posted here when they are complete (if I think it to be worthwhile making them).

Re: A new map pack

Cool, that would be great! Soon I will be able to add new units to the game, but I need someone to do the 3D modelling as I am not great...

Re: A new map pack

Wow, thanks M0n3y! ab I would love to work on at least some of these. I would appreciate help from anyone, whether it be to make units, models or maps. A team would be great, my time to work on a map pack is limited (becoming even more limited) but I will try to make some maps for us. Also, if anyone has made a map that they would like included they can email me the map. Private Message me for email address. Any suggestions on a first project?

Re: A new map pack

Paulsface269, if I may suggest, why not start with either my Tulagi multiplayer or Savo Island?  There's plenty of reference stuff to go on for those and the ideas are pretty developed

Re: A new map pack

Cool, good idea! New units in those, I would need someone to email me the new units. I do have the unit adding software (lightwave and mmod converter) but cannot create a new ship from scratch in ligtwave, just too complex for me at the moment. Tulagi, I will begin working on when I have time. I will begin work on Savo Island when I have the new ships. By the way, some great map ideas Triviaman. ab

Re: A new map pack

Ok, I have begun to work on "Invasion of Tulagi". So far the map is proving... difficult, but I will continue to work on it until it is playable, then perfect it (I used the word 'perfect' VERY broadly there). Update: Ok, most units are in the map (positioning still needs work) and the island now  has all but the shipyard and airfield (which I will begin working on soon - need to assign them to players and choose their stocks).

Re: A new map pack

Wait, are you talking about my Tulagi map?

If you check the forum page on thread about the map, you'll see that the shipyard and airfield compositions are already listed.

Re: A new map pack

Reply Triviaman and Paulsface269: These are only BSM map sugestions. That is all. I know that some maps were thought of and planned way before mine. Naturally, they will get first priority. (smile) These are my frictional maps' ideas. I have had for years. There are three: the Battle for the Suez Canal, the Rising Sun - the US attack on Japan's Kurita center force, and the Defense of Singapore. I am in the mood for map ideas because I have just finished a new historical background for a possible  upcoming map for BSP. So, I am hyper right now - hahahahahah!! That is all. With a vision to share always, Bushidocode.

Yeah, but for some reason the game crashes when I load up the map when all the units are in (positions for shipyard and airfield are correct (copied from AMission8)). I am yet to figure out the cause, i'll keep you posted on progress.

  • N_Trainz : it shouldn't crash any of the IJN missions, just one mission has the history of crashing in the Challenge missions 2, I don't know the name as its been a while I last loaded this mod
  • alantay11 : Gdrive mod crashes when i try to load a mission in ijn campaign?
  • N_Trainz : No it was created by multiple authors from around the world. I just made it so its actually a mod instead of a complete game that's about 7GB in size. The readme file that is displayed can give you more info about the mod
  • Runsva : hey ntrainz did u make this mod all by yourself?
  • N_Trainz : If you need any other help, just shout out and I'll try to get back as soon as possible
  • N_Trainz : Its not a problem :D I do thank you for waiting for a long time to get the mod. Again hope you enjoy the mod and the other fun features it comes with
  • Legendary Da : I don't know how many times I said that, but thank you so much for your work. Considering how much time making an installer, making it work and uploading it to different servers, I thank you again for the effort you put in this. :D
  • N_Trainz : Legendary Da: Here it is, installers works this time and Moddb won't accept it as they say its too large to upload, so its on my Google Drive and here is the link, hope you enjoy it «link»
  • Legendary Da : I had guessed it was about the wrong area, though I still wondered why it had been removed. Thanks for taking your time to make something better for the community. Take as much time as you require, though; life still comes first.
  • N_Trainz : Actually it was removed by me for 2 reasons; 1. was it was uploaded in the wrong area and 2. the installer didn't autp - detect the disk version, only the Steam version (since that is what I have). Going to remake it so if you won't mind a but longer wat that'll be appreciated
  • Legendary Da : Thanks soo much for the mod, I couldn't access to the Internet lately so I couldn't write a reply. Btw, the mod is removed from ModDB, is it taken down, or you removed it yourself? Either way, thanks for the awesome work (at least for providing it) :D
  • N_Trainz : What game and mod are you dealing with?
  • Runsva : Can someone PLEASE help me i can't install anything on my game it just keeps crashing!!
  • N_Trainz : Legendary Da: Its now live on Moddb and here is the link, requires a Batlestations Midway game to be installed to work «link» - midway - skinpack/addons/international - bsm - collection - light - version Enjoy
  • Runsva : are we still talikg about the zyy modding pack??
  • N_Trainz : Yeah I wanted to do this, but the installers were being a pain giving me errors about something. I finally got it working, and just figured out how to make the updater now since it'll be two parts with one containing the misc files and the other mostly the mpak files. It'll be a stand - alone DLC mod just like the Bismarck Mission Pack was. Like I said I plan to have it all completed and uploaded by this weekend
  • Legendary Da : No, no, not problem at all; I am already grateful that you were thinking about this subject, I can wait as long as you need to. Thanks for the help (again), and feel no need to rush this subject; we all know that the life comes first. :)
  • N_Trainz : Hope you won't mind the wait, it'll be worth it if you ask me, and yes I do understand that you can't download due to that cap Mege has. I heard the PM was down, but haven't tried it as I been busy helping the BSmodHQ team with things and then those that are life - in - general.
  • N_Trainz : To Legendary Da: I been trying to work on that actually, what I'm experiencing is the pack size> I already made it a light version of the mod, so hopefully this weekend maybe, might be sooner
  • Legendary Da : To N_Trainz: So, um... I can't exactly download from Mega for some reason; so could u upload that mod to Moddb? I am sorry for making extra work for you, and I TOTALLY understand if u can't upload it again; so, do as you want; I just wanted to say somehow I couldn't dl the mod (btw, why isn't the PM working?). U don't have to post the link either; I'll find it from the site if u upload it. Thanks whatever u do, and so sorry for the extra wish. :/
