Since december 2012 Battlestations: Midway is supported by GameSpy no longer. The only one possibility for Midway players is GameRanger. Please visit www.gameranger.com, download Gameranger client and make new account. You can find other Midway players in the Gameranger rooms. BS:M patch 1.1.1 is required to play online battles. Iowa Mission Pack and Midway Modders Mappacks 1 and 2 are recommended.

Unlocking All Units for use on a map

Hello, my first post here on the forums. I recently downloaded and have been using the BSmodHG 3.0 and have started looking over some of the lua files. The only thing I've changed is the Renown cost to 1 per ship. That was awesome.

I was wondering if there is a way to have all units available to use on the large maps, aircraft carriers, battleships, planes. I haven't seen anything in the file names to clue me in. I appreciate any help I can get. If I have to manually add in the carriers, how would I go about doing that and what tools would I need?

Hi, and welcome.

For what you want you'll have to modify an existing map or create a new one. This is a fairly complec procedure to learn, but I am busy making tutorials on this and I hope to bring it out soon.

If I can use an example... you say you have BSmodHQ update v.3.0 for BSP that means the Advanced Warfare Pack is also installed so I urge you to go to Skirmish and select Island Capture. You'll see after map 8 there will be custom maps. You are welcome to try them out although there is no real functional AI (except for Air Battle over Japan) - this is what is possible with map making.

I have added all the units to Dreadnought and Clash but I'm not sure how they will work with the game version 1.2. Do you want to try it out?

Hello Thanks Axis, I was thinking that might be the case where I'd need to edit the map. I look forward to the tutorials. I only do skirmish and have seen those maps, I haven't checked them out yet. Is there a map editor out or does it more involve modelling?

It involves more scripting than modelling, in short you have to extract the map from mpacks and add units via line of code.

Yeah that does sound complex, I was doing my editing in word pad but I didn't dare get rid of any spaces or anything. I have backups though. Well I will wait to see what the tutorials look like when Axis gets them done, also Commander I'm still totally willing to test those maps out. Or are they already in the modhq 3.0. I haven't seen options for carriers and other stuff while playing Dreadnought or Clash

Here it is. Feel free to look at the code and even use some of it if you want. Be sure to backup the overwritten files. If you have the space, I would advise a full backup of the "scenes" folder, especially if you plan to try map modding yourself. For the Dreadnought map, all units on the US side will be available. For Clash, the Japanese units are all unlocked. If you have any questions, I am probably not the one to ask as I made these a while ago and am probably a bit rusty now.

@commander1234   Hi,That's great.I wanna unlock all unlock units in one map.Such as Shimakaze,Kamikaze Zero,Kaiten Carrier,OHKA Carrier,Type A sub,I400 sub,and other intersting things.

  • The Dictator : Makeo67 i've explained how to find the unused slots in the topic and the mmod2txm it's a program that has been shared. However there aren't so many ships with unused platforms and sme of them are in wrong positions and for move them you need to know how to change the mmod file. But if you know how to do it you can make new platfors as you want. I've shared the south dakota disposition and this one is the most intersting in my opinion
