A help request: passages for creating new units

Hi everyone!
I create this post because i need (and i think a lot of people too) to learn in a simple way how to create a new unit for this amazing game!
I've already seen the axis_crusher tutorial, that i found very useful but it couldn't help me how much i desidered... so i invite you to write a simple and schematic explanation of this process (that i find very complicated) to help me and others to make avaliables new units ab and also i invite everyone to share knowledge with images, texts, video tutorials and programs that makes things faster and easier.

To give a start point for the discussion i want to create the Littorio Class battleship, a unit that i've seen only in the dgdxgdg video, and i think it would be a great add but it request the build of a whole new model.
But i want to learn how to create a battleship in a general way (not only the Littorio class... ) and if you help me i'll thank you a lot and i will share every model that i create.

Sorry for my english... i'm italian! XD
I hope you understand my aim! If the team of modders needs new members i'm gonna be glad to take part of them (but i start almost from zero!)

And welcome here.

Unfortunately my tutorial is about is good instructions you are going to find with regards to modding.
There is maybe one or two tips here and there that we can point out but those tutorials cover the most.
When it comes to make a new model only a few know how to do it and the best of them (like dgdxgdg) does not want to share how as they want to sell their models. Most of them are stolen from other games such as Silent Hunter, HAWX, War Thunder and World of Warplanes.
Use the video tutorials as a basis and build up your experience. We'll assist where we can.

I must say the littorio class is one of my favorite battleships of history my favorite member of the class is la roma ( I am part Italian ) still I must say people like dgdxgdg annoy me so you don't want to release your mods fine then at least tell others how to create the game models........... I totally agree with you jon_man0499! I like "la Roma" too ab and i was fascinating by a model that i saw in the naval museum of Venice! I don't know if i will do it as first... probably as first pass i will modify another similar unit (like north dakota class, north carolina class...) to make one similar to it, and i will modify it always more

Hmm next time I go to Italy I will have to see that model......... such a tragic end to such a great vessel may her sailors find eternal peace even if you use a different model at least we will actually have an Italian ship!!!! ab

What i've made today: the Montana Class with the King George V guns x4.

It works in island capture but it doesn't in duel! Someone knows why?

You need to make sure that you have the same vehicleclasses file in: Game_Global,GGame_OnInit and GVMainMenu.

I've check it... is the same in all of three... but it crash when i tried to begin a duel with this unit! T.T

Are you basing this off the stock Battlestations Pacific or the BSmodHQ 3.0 version?

Finally i've solved the problem! I hadn't put the tourrets' files in the mpak of the unit! Now it works!!!!!!

This is part of the reason why I totally restructured the game files by taking them out of the mpaks.
It makes modding a lot simpler because all the files are immediately available to the game so no mysterious crashes. Also instead of saving 3-4 (depinding on what you are doing) of the same files in different mpaks, repacking them and overriding the old ones every time you make a change you just press save and reload the mission.

Maybe try it.


It seems like you are progressing quite well with your ship. Keep at it and you can become really good and create great works.

  • Legendary Da : Hi everyone, I have one (or two) quick question about BS:M modding. I try to figure out sp mapmaking, and my first act on it was to convert a MP map to SP. However I can only play as Allies in those maps. What parameter do I have to change to play those maps as Japanese in the respective map .mpak (And where is the parameter I have to change?)?

  • The Dictator : Makeo67 i've explained how to find the unused slots in the topic and the mmod2txm it's a program that has been shared. However there aren't so many ships with unused platforms and sme of them are in wrong positions and for move them you need to know how to change the mmod file. But if you know how to do it you can make new platfors as you want. I've shared the south dakota disposition and this one is the most intersting in my opinion

  • Mokeo67 : I tried changing the bogue class carrier to a yorktown class in the phillipene sea mission and one of two things happened. The mission either didnt change or the game crashed.

  • Axis_Crusher : specific mission’s 3_scene mpak file by working on the .lua file. There is where the bonus unit is actually added into the mission (by the script). I haven't tried it myself so good luck.
  • Axis_Crusher : I assume you are talking about the bonus units that you unlock for certain missions by completing previous ones (like the B - 25’s in the 2nd Battle of Guadalcanal). The bonus units are unlocked by completing certain objectives in the campaign - so that is linked to your campaign progress. Since that cannot be altered you must look at the missiontree.lua file. This is where the unit will show up unlocked on the mission screen. There are references to allunitslock. Also you will have to edit the
  • Mokeo67 : Thank you I will look in this file. I did unlock all the campaign missions, all you have to do is delete the text after 'prerequisite' and it will unlock. But I havent figured out how to unlock the bonus units.
  • Axis_Crusher : I also prefer it being off, just as most of the BSM community. Most players, however prefer repair to be enabled so that is what we should do. Most of our maps it will be disabled through the script however. If you want to play with the game's repair settings you can find it under shipglobals.lua
