Since december 2012 Battlestations: Midway is supported by GameSpy no longer. The only one possibility for Midway players is GameRanger. Please visit www.gameranger.com, download Gameranger client and make new account. You can find other Midway players in the Gameranger rooms. BS:M patch 1.1.1 is required to play online battles. Iowa Mission Pack and Midway Modders Mappacks 1 and 2 are recommended.

1945 Yamato with proper AA layout

so from what i hear the 1945 yamato will not be available in 4.0 in-game either in the campaign or the skirmish modes. i have been looking forward to the new pack as i heard long ago that the 1945 yamato would be in game. as it stands in 3.0 is does not have the proper AA layout. Can anyone make me a 3.0 installer with the yamato 1945 with the proper AA layout useable in the entire jap campaign and skirmish modes? id even be happy to pay for it too.

i asked axis about it and he said it wont be.  only thing i care about regarding battlestations pacific honestly. the 1945 yamato currently with 3.0 has beehive shells and a much better AA layout and from my perspective that is what should have been in the game when it was made and NOT the 1941 yammy. (well honestly what should have been in game when it was made is the proper AA layout)

From what I know, Axis has a 1945 Yamato with the correct AA and the 1944 Musashi with correct AA and since Musashi and Yamato both appear on maps from 3.0 and 4.0 I dont see a reason not to include them.

i don't either. makes no sense to me why he can't just make them usable in the campaign AND skirmish. i can't play with people anyways with the pack installed and i don't think any of my friends can either.

I have the yamato 1945 (and 1944) with the proper AA layout and it's easy to import in the game!
Do you want to have it in the missions and in skirmish like a default unit or only use it as an unlockable unit?
Because if you want the second option it would be very very easy to do

If I have to decide on making 2 people happy by making it an unlockable vs over 200 who are complaining I am going to side with the over 200. Simply put the Yamato is a powerful surface vessel and planes are one of the few viable ways of taking it out. Now if you have a flak spammer like that which can take out squads of planes in a single volley it effs up the Island Capture mode. Simple as that.
It will be in a mission dedicated to it. Operation Ten-Go.

If you don't want to download 4.0 because of this it is up to you. I am merely going with the majority.

I'm not mad at you axis, not at all. Just what is going on. If dictator can simply replace the yamato in game or in the installer then it's fine. And I can't play with other people anyway so......what would it take just switching a few (?) files in the game or installer? I could pay you for your time if dictator isn't able to do it.

Give me until tomorrow. I'll prepare you a patch that will update the existing Yamato 1945 with the 3.5/4.0 version.
You'll have to replace and modify some files, but I'll walk you through.

then why do you play the game? (not trying to be rude or anything) in ww2 that's literally all the yamato did on her last mission.

  • Legendary Da : Hi everyone, I have one (or two) quick question about BS:M modding. I try to figure out sp mapmaking, and my first act on it was to convert a MP map to SP. However I can only play as Allies in those maps. What parameter do I have to change to play those maps as Japanese in the respective map .mpak (And where is the parameter I have to change?)?

  • The Dictator : Makeo67 i've explained how to find the unused slots in the topic and the mmod2txm it's a program that has been shared. However there aren't so many ships with unused platforms and sme of them are in wrong positions and for move them you need to know how to change the mmod file. But if you know how to do it you can make new platfors as you want. I've shared the south dakota disposition and this one is the most intersting in my opinion

  • Mokeo67 : I tried changing the bogue class carrier to a yorktown class in the phillipene sea mission and one of two things happened. The mission either didnt change or the game crashed.

  • Axis_Crusher : specific mission’s 3_scene mpak file by working on the .lua file. There is where the bonus unit is actually added into the mission (by the script). I haven't tried it myself so good luck.
  • Axis_Crusher : I assume you are talking about the bonus units that you unlock for certain missions by completing previous ones (like the B - 25’s in the 2nd Battle of Guadalcanal). The bonus units are unlocked by completing certain objectives in the campaign - so that is linked to your campaign progress. Since that cannot be altered you must look at the missiontree.lua file. This is where the unit will show up unlocked on the mission screen. There are references to allunitslock. Also you will have to edit the
  • Mokeo67 : Thank you I will look in this file. I did unlock all the campaign missions, all you have to do is delete the text after 'prerequisite' and it will unlock. But I havent figured out how to unlock the bonus units.
  • Axis_Crusher : I also prefer it being off, just as most of the BSM community. Most players, however prefer repair to be enabled so that is what we should do. Most of our maps it will be disabled through the script however. If you want to play with the game's repair settings you can find it under shipglobals.lua
