i managed to change the morris form a dd to a cl

I had made a long story to explane why but OOPS wrong button

everything gone

so ill do it short now

1. get Bsm ripper
2. extract for instance 1_MM_mmission01 (corral sea)
   extract the whole content of file
3.find the scn file (\Program Files\BSM Ripper\ExtractedFiles\1_mm_MMission01.mpak\universe\scenes\missions\multi)
4. open it with word pad

5. what i changed

only the ClassId made the morris finally go from dd to cl

5 use bsm ripper to repack everything

6.overwrite original file (make backup first)

7. start game

if anything doesnt work or i made a mistake explaning REMEMBER

the scn file is the only thing i changed and it worked so play around with it



*unpack and repack everything with your changes cause youll overwrite the entire file

i replaced atlanta with renown

by the way:

the 1_mm_MMission files seem to hold all the multiplayer maps
so they are the most interesting, the 1_ma_AMission files seem to hold single player scenarios

making differend secarios this way is not that difficult
the problem is that everyone needs your edited file in order to play properly

if someone misses the file the units will be displayed as normal but will have the carachteristics of the units that the server usses (aka dds replaced bij bbs bij server will look like dds but act like bbs
and fire 1.6 miles and go 20 knots) at least on a lan connection
i cant say how gamespy will respond to conflicting scn files.

Haha - great job!! Its really amazing...

I think now we need to learn how-to, then try to start with first map.

Next we can test this map in multiplayer mode with well known guys, and after that we can publish this map to download on site.

Now I believe in new life for Midway ! ab



PS: Important. Can you take a look for that dutch translation of site?
And tell me, it is good or not.

it'll be a blast if I (we) can get all thesingle player units (clemson,warhawk,buffalo) and even the unplayeble units (de Ruyter, that japanese dd sp that u can never contole) into multiplayer

no garanties do, but it seems highly posiible

ill get write on it monday

If u want me to edit a map (so we can see if it work on gamspy) just tel me wat needs changing
and ill do it (or at least try it)

im gonna try to get as much intel tonight as possible

still need to find out a lot of things:

how to 'add' new map to the game (so far im only able to replace an existing one)
this is really nessasery to get modding of the ground

see if i can get the "select player position" menu to display new (replaced) units
nice cosmetic detail to display proffesonalism (mabye ill try to find out how to get a nice pic. for map later)

how to add units to a map
only replacibg isnt good enough, must also be able to add a ship/airfield e.d.

how to move units on the map
naturally this is important to create your own scenario

learning how to replace spawned units like aircraft from carier/airfield
nessasery if u ever want to see warhawks, buffalos and other non MP aircraft on a multiplayer map

last but not least it would be nice to get some single player maps to multiplayer
some have very nice island templates.

if i can find out all these pionts then modding should have no limits
(exept for island templates)

gonna go ahead when schools done, but no telling how long before or even if i can discover these things

Okay MAYOR problem

no matter what i try i cant get BSM to accept a new map

it probably doesnt read the data because it isnt listed in the gamefiles themselves

but i cant find any list in the mpak files

it might be in the mpkg file but thats even worse because that file isnt in any understandeble language
or maybe codded

i dont have anymore ideas, so any great idea would be welcome

some smal good news
in my search for an answer i did find a tread on a forum that explanes how to add and move a unit on the map

kinda figured how it worked, this confirms it

anyways if anyone ever wants to paly a new map they'll have to overwrite another

(im thinking airsuperiority over at Luzon as the main candidate for a replacement,

.PKG. AND MPKG files are packages for MacOS. Can't find any way to unpack these files using Windows. Its something similar to the Windows Installer files. Now i'm trying to find a way how to upack these files using Linux (i have Ubuntu Linux installed)

finally somethign that did work....

i got the minekaze on a single player map

well on the plawan passage map anyway

tryed it on jave sea and it didnt work
have to find out why

i dont have a lan where i am at the moment so i cant try the mp maps

anyway the Minekaze works fine as a player controlled unit
targeting and everything works as it should

as for the ship itself

has 4 cannons that can fire in a 360 degree angle  unlike the clemson
It has 3 torp tubes like Fubuki,but it has even worse aa than the clemson, only 2 machine guns
.
also it does seem rather undone, it has no crew running around and noone in the bridge
This is probably because it was ever meant to be viewed up close for a long time,
only from a distance for 30 seconds or so then it would sink

what do you think is it good enough to be a usable unit in mp?

anyway

I came across this file called MissionTreeGui.lua.mwz in GVMainMenu.mpak
now gui probably stands for guided user interface so i might yust be for visual stuf ingame
on the other hand it might be listing te maps

but even if it did its a mwz file; it cant be oppened with wordpad and internet can't help me either.

i think im on a dead end with the 'add a map to the game' idea

gonna focus on getting those unplayeble units and single player unit playable on mp

Wow I didn't even know that American marines were so good they could capture a Japanese ship! ( in case if you didn't notice in the picture , im referencing to the fact the minekaze has an American flag waving, good work marines!)

This is some wicked stuff your doing here, makes me wonder if we could reskin or possibly add a new ship period that was never there (Let there be Hoshos!) Oh the possibilities! I shall wait for more cool stuff you got here!

  • N_Trainz : Actually it was removed by me for 2 reasons; 1. was it was uploaded in the wrong area and 2. the installer didn't autp - detect the disk version, only the Steam version (since that is what I have). Going to remake it so if you won't mind a but longer wat that'll be appreciated
