Operation: Ten-Go preview script

Operation: Ten-Go preview script

Well, with my map quite popular among much of the Battlestations.eu community, I think Operation: Ten-Go has great potential to be a popular map in Midway.  Well, if there is one thing I know about the accepted map proposals, usually they get a cool preview to go along with them, like that 9 minute one on youtube of Indian Ocean Raid.  Well, after thinking about how I would make the Operation: Ten-Go preview, this is how I would do it, if the preview creation was up to me:

1st shot:  black background

"April 6, 1945" appears on screen

It dissapears, then the following sentence appears:

The United States is fighting and winning the battle of Okinawa, and every day, they get one step closer to potentially invading Japan itself.

dissapears, another sentence appears:

Desperate to push the Allies away, Japan sends Yamato, the pride of their navy, and a small escort screen, on a suicide mission.

(In game footage, showing Yamato fleet underway, to get it, I would have a plane fly over the Yamato fleet)

(Words appear on screen) A few hours after departure, the American Submarine USS Threadfin spots the Yamato fleet

(Scene changes, using one of the Japanese subs from Shipyard 2 preforn a periscope view shot of the Yamato fleet, 1st on a couple Destroyers, then Yamato itself)

Unable to attack, it alerts the carriers of Task Force 58

(Plane flies over USA carrier fleet, to get a "Group picture")

Words on screen:

April 7, 1945 10:00 AM, the carriers lauch 386 aircraft to intercept the fleet

(Shots of carriers launching planes, 1st from other ships, then from the actual planes)

(Then about 5 seconds of the huge plane formation in flight, perhaps focus on one squad, then have it look around)

(Word appear on screen)  12:30 PM, April 7, 1945.  The Yamato fleet comes under attack.

(Shot of planes beginning their attack run.  Personally, I would have a single squad fly overhead, as a "camera" of sorts, and have the attacking planes spread out)

(about 30 seconds of action here, planes attacking, some falling from the sky, shots  of Yamato and the other ships firing their AA batteries)

(Word appear)  12:46, a torpedo hits the light cruiser Yahagi, killing her entire engine room crew (Brief black background, words appear)  14:05 Yahagi sinks, taking with her 445 (Shot of sinking Yahagi)

(Back to the black background)  14:05, Yamato, after taking more than 8 torpedos and 15 bombs, finally sucombs to her wounds, and starts to capsize port (Well, since we cant do that. I'd just get a shot of Yamato sinking by the bow port, if Im lucky)

(Black background appears after Yamato sinks)

Out of the 386 planes that attacked, only 10 were shot down, and only 12 Americans are killed.

Out of the 10 ship attack force, the Battleship Yamato, the light cruiser Yahagi, and 4 of the 8 destroyers are sunk.  It is estimated that as many as 4,000 Japanese sailors died in the attack (If I were doing this, I would also say...), including Admiral Seiichi Ito, and Captain Kosaku Aruga.  (Ito was in charge of the Yamato fleet on its final mission, and Aruga was Captain of the Yamato)

(In game footage is in background, of the airial attack fo the Yamato fleet)  (Words appear)  Now, YOU have a chance to reenact Yamato's final mission.  (Next sentence after this one dissapears)  Will you relive history?  (Shot of sinking Yamato)  Or rewrite it?  (Shot of Yamato shelling, and sinking the carriers).

Final shot:

Relive... (Dissapears)

Operation: Ten-Go

Coming soon

Of course, that is how I would do it.  When it is actually done by the guy who does make the previews, IF he decides to do one, it will probably be very, very, VERY different.  But hey, a guy can dream.

Re: Operation: Ten-Go preview script

I remember about your concept for trailer. I hope it will be available this week. Im not trying to invent something new. I'll use your script.

Re: Operation: Ten-Go preview script

Thank you admin.  BTW, you do understand why I wrote it the way I did, right?  For the sake of preserving historical accuracy to an extent, because in this day and age, with so many kids focusing on the now, and not the then, I figured that if I proposed a map and trailer based on historical accuracy, maybe it will rekindle an interest in WWII in my age group (Im 15)

Re: Operation: Ten-Go preview script

no offense but one map and preview trailer will not kindle it very much.... most ppl who play this are in ther late teens or twenties (maybe 30's like EST or Katarya) so you will need a major shift to do that but still like the concept

Re: Operation: Ten-Go preview script

Good to know.  Cant wait to see the finished piece.  BTW, Jap planes did NOT escort Yamato fleet, so please try to refrain from using them, for the sake of historical accuracy.  Well that is what I request anyway.

  • Legendary Da : Hi everyone, I have one (or two) quick question about BS:M modding. I try to figure out sp mapmaking, and my first act on it was to convert a MP map to SP. However I can only play as Allies in those maps. What parameter do I have to change to play those maps as Japanese in the respective map .mpak (And where is the parameter I have to change?)?
  • N_Trainz : G'day mates, I just wanted to let those who use Windows 10 and also for those who are having troubles getting the game launching because of Games for Windows LIVE, I made a tutorial of how to get it working successfully again like on Windows 8.1. Its on my channel and here's the link to the video. «link»
  • Mokeo67 : The dictator, I downloaded the mmod2txm and I added four slots to the fletcher and a couple to the lexington. Thanks for the help though.
  • The Dictator : Makeo67 i've explained how to find the unused slots in the topic and the mmod2txm it's a program that has been shared. However there aren't so many ships with unused platforms and sme of them are in wrong positions and for move them you need to know how to change the mmod file. But if you know how to do it you can make new platfors as you want. I've shared the south dakota disposition and this one is the most intersting in my opinion
  • N_Trainz : Well it looks like we have spammers again
  • Mokeo67 : No problem Thanks for the help
  • Axis_Crusher : Not really
  • Mokeo67 : Ok thanks anyway. Do you know who does?
  • Axis_Crusher : Unfortunately I don't deal with that part of modding
  • Mokeo67 : Sorry forgot the link. «link»
  • Mokeo67 : This is the forum topic I meant. The dictator said he found the unused slots in the TXM file obtainable with the mmod2txm, what is this and is it available to use.
  • Axis_Crusher : This is your best bet: «link»
  • Mokeo67 : Also I saw on the forum that ships have unused platform slots. How do I use these?
  • Mokeo67 : I tried changing the bogue class carrier to a yorktown class in the phillipene sea mission and one of two things happened. The mission either didnt change or the game crashed.
  • Axis_Crusher : No problem
  • Mokeo67 : That is what im talking about. Ill have a look at it later thanks for the help
  • Axis_Crusher : specific mission’s 3_scene mpak file by working on the .lua file. There is where the bonus unit is actually added into the mission (by the script). I haven't tried it myself so good luck.
  • Axis_Crusher : I assume you are talking about the bonus units that you unlock for certain missions by completing previous ones (like the B - 25’s in the 2nd Battle of Guadalcanal). The bonus units are unlocked by completing certain objectives in the campaign - so that is linked to your campaign progress. Since that cannot be altered you must look at the missiontree.lua file. This is where the unit will show up unlocked on the mission screen. There are references to allunitslock. Also you will have to edit the
  • Mokeo67 : Thank you I will look in this file. I did unlock all the campaign missions, all you have to do is delete the text after 'prerequisite' and it will unlock. But I havent figured out how to unlock the bonus units.
  • Axis_Crusher : I also prefer it being off, just as most of the BSM community. Most players, however prefer repair to be enabled so that is what we should do. Most of our maps it will be disabled through the script however. If you want to play with the game's repair settings you can find it under shipglobals.lua
