Since december 2012 Battlestations: Midway is supported by GameSpy no longer. The only one possibility for Midway players is GameRanger. Please visit www.gameranger.com, download Gameranger client and make new account. You can find other Midway players in the Gameranger rooms. BS:M patch 1.1.1 is required to play online battles. Iowa Mission Pack and Midway Modders Mappacks 1 and 2 are recommended.

Just minutes ago triviman and I agreed to form an unnofficial company triviaman-beast map productions and we are currently making ideas we ask while we are posting rough drafts pls don't comment and do not vote as trivia and I will decide which map rough draft to use we currently are lacking someone to make drafts and I will consult trivia if we will acquire a draft person

Beast is correct about everything.  However, even if we do get a map drafter, I will still make videos, like I did for Ten-Go, for the sake of having an audio and visual reference.  Now, here comes the 1st map in the series;

Operation: Hailstone, the raid on Truk Atoll.

Now, this is how it is going to work:  every time we agree on a map idea, Beast and I will post our own takes on how the map will look.  After discussing each other's maps, and hearing some opinions of others, we will blend our ideas, and come up with a final picture.  And now, here is my take on Operation: Hailstone (Rather than "Raid on Truk," Beast and I decided to call this map "Operation: Hailstone" because that is what it was actually called in real life)  So, for this reason, please do not comment on this thread until both ideas are up

Player 1-  Yorktown CV x2, Clevland CL, Fletcher DD x2
Player 2-  Yorktown CV x2, Clevland CL, Fletcher DD x2
Player 3-  Yorktown CV, Iowa BB, Fletcher DD x2, Narwhal SS
Player 4-  New York BB x2, Fletcher DD x2, Narwhal SS

The CVs each have 30 F4Fs, 30 SBDs and 30 TBFs.

JAPANESE-

Player 1- Airfield x2, Shipyard x2, Fuso BB
Player 2- Airfield x2, Shipyard x2, Fuso BB
Player 3- Mogami CA, Tone CA, Fubuki DD x2, Type B sub

The airfields each have 30 A6Ms, 30 D4Ys and 30 B5Ns

The shipyards each have 2 Midget subs, 5 PT boats, 5 H8K flying boats (if possible) and 3 Minekaze DDs


OBJECTIVES-

US- Destroy Truk Atoll (Airfields, Shipyards, Merchant fleet, BBs)   The merchant fleet consists of 8 Cargos, 4 oilers, 3 Transports.

JAPAN- Defend Truk (Wipe out attacking force)
The islands mark the enterance to Truk, due to a limit omn map size, and other variables, I had to create the islands like that.

Please do NOT comment until both ideas are up, so as to avoid confusion.

In other words, Beat and I have agreed that we will use my interpritation of Operation: Hailstone as our Operation: Hailstone map, and we are going to toy around with Beast's interpritation to get the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal

Good, thats our current path as of now.  Though I will not get Rennell up until the weekend most likely.  Reguarding what one guy said about we are making our maps too big, I intend to scale this map down

Brilliant Beast!  Though like I said, with the US fleet composition, all you really do is add CV-3, and you are pretty much set.  But you still will need to find the names of the DDs that we don't have.  Jap fleet, you will need to toy around with a LOT to make it fair.

Thanks for showing me that site, could prove useful in future map development

  • Legendary Da : Hi everyone, I have one (or two) quick question about BS:M modding. I try to figure out sp mapmaking, and my first act on it was to convert a MP map to SP. However I can only play as Allies in those maps. What parameter do I have to change to play those maps as Japanese in the respective map .mpak (And where is the parameter I have to change?)?

  • The Dictator : Makeo67 i've explained how to find the unused slots in the topic and the mmod2txm it's a program that has been shared. However there aren't so many ships with unused platforms and sme of them are in wrong positions and for move them you need to know how to change the mmod file. But if you know how to do it you can make new platfors as you want. I've shared the south dakota disposition and this one is the most intersting in my opinion

  • Mokeo67 : I tried changing the bogue class carrier to a yorktown class in the phillipene sea mission and one of two things happened. The mission either didnt change or the game crashed.

  • Axis_Crusher : specific mission’s 3_scene mpak file by working on the .lua file. There is where the bonus unit is actually added into the mission (by the script). I haven't tried it myself so good luck.
  • Axis_Crusher : I assume you are talking about the bonus units that you unlock for certain missions by completing previous ones (like the B - 25’s in the 2nd Battle of Guadalcanal). The bonus units are unlocked by completing certain objectives in the campaign - so that is linked to your campaign progress. Since that cannot be altered you must look at the missiontree.lua file. This is where the unit will show up unlocked on the mission screen. There are references to allunitslock. Also you will have to edit the
  • Mokeo67 : Thank you I will look in this file. I did unlock all the campaign missions, all you have to do is delete the text after 'prerequisite' and it will unlock. But I havent figured out how to unlock the bonus units.
  • Axis_Crusher : I also prefer it being off, just as most of the BSM community. Most players, however prefer repair to be enabled so that is what we should do. Most of our maps it will be disabled through the script however. If you want to play with the game's repair settings you can find it under shipglobals.lua
