Since december 2012 Battlestations: Midway is supported by GameSpy no longer. The only one possibility for Midway players is GameRanger. Iron bottom sound

History: During the Battle of Guadalcanal "the Slot" was a hot spot for Japanese warships to bombard Guadalcanal and Henderson Field. The Japanese commander Abe brought a force of 1 CL, 11 DDs, and 2 BBs on a course to destroy U.S forces on the shores of guadalcanal and destroy Henderson Field. He wanted a clear shot at the beaches so the Cargo Fleet in the eastern zone of the slot could move in. If the Japanese had succeeded then the U.S most likely would have lost the battle. Luckily for them their recon reported the force and they moved in with 2 CAs, 8 DDs, 3 CLs, and the Enterprise elsewhere in the battlefield. After the battle was over the United States had won but it was only the first of two naval battles of Guadalcanal (we are only doing the first in this battle).

Now like Operation: Ten-Go we (Trivia and I) are aiming for historical accuracy but fairness at the same time so I included some extra units (the U.S CV the Wasp, Japanese CAs Tone, and Nachi, and Japanese Carrier Soryu) We intended for 1 side to have the aireal advantage and the other the BB advantage to allow different experiences on the map.

You may notice I included the AI controlled fleet of Japanese Minekaze Destroyers and Cargo, Troop, and Oil ships. I did this to again preserve historical accuracy.

I added a jap cv for fairness and same with subs and second us cv... We were Aiming for again 80 percent accuracy (ca for japan was also for fairness but will be a tone class)

Beast, please make sure all of your speeling is correct, the game programmers already mispelled Chicago on the Solomon map, and I dont want that to happen again

Anyway, more importantly, make sure you all leave comments when we get a map draft up, because we plan to become a major map idea creator in the future.  However, we are yet to establish a rate of release of ideas.

yes i will change that ....... and yes we do want to become THE major map designers of BSM... we will take your ideas and post them if u wish and i think we should do 3 ideas for now then just 1 (i dont wanna make all ur research on the third idea for nothign)

Must say this rather unfair. The Japanese unfortunately do not have BB advantage. Its kind of like taking on a Yamato with 3 Renowns. Who will win?The Yamato most of the time. And the 2nd US CV will take some of the BB health off.

Look, I'm just considering the variable of player expierience.  Remember Samar?  Well, I will have you know that I once sank a DD, CA, the CV AND Yamato on that map, and my ship survived the conflict.  That can only mean one thing:  Even though my BB was less powerful than Yamato, I still brought it down probably because I was more skilled than that player.  So, point for "Experience over units."  And BTW, I really dont want to argure, I am just trying to state a point by backing it up with information

guys stop bickering now katarya is kinda right this is not really fair units but trivia is right to its based on player... in suriago i sank the 2 fusos and 1 mogami with 2 renowns and tht is extremely unfair (i used planes on other CA and DDs) but the point is its experience and i wanted to spread out the japanse flagships to spread out american air attack

and katarya if your not busy can you tell me if this is a pretty good idea (historically speaking)

Actually, the sheer amount of AA from 10+ ships the the Hiryu-Kirishima fleet alone should be enogh to stop any air attack

Yes Samar this is like Samar and yes I never said it didn't depend on American skill but it would be like the Japanese having 3 carriers to American 2 in addition to the 2 the Americans have. Also with a good aircommander who concentrates on the enemy BBs and a good BB commander the Japanese can win the map but the Americans can easily too. I mean I can sink Yamato %50 of time with an NY. If the enemy is noob and gets under 1.0 then I can at least destroy his hull if not the ship itself.

Please forgive me if I made you angry Katarya, but one of the three points that Triviaman-Beast Map Productions follows is "Historical accuracy to the furthest extent."  And, if you know about WWII as much as I do, you would know that one of the most famous battles of Ironbottom Sound was USS Washington vs. Kirishima.  Well, for the historical accuracy part, we...
    . Named many ships on this map after actual ships sunk in Ironbottom
    . Incorporated Washington vs. Kirishima into this map, and we added Hiei to complement Kirishima, because both were sunk in Ironbottom Sound, and together they stand a chance against Washington, provided that they use the proper tactics.
Due to certain factors that I don't want to go into right now, we decided to settle for this.  After all, when the draft is posted, it will only be the 1st draft.  We can always tinker  around with it as we get more opinions.

guys im glad u made up but i have a solution.... a New York is far inferior to iowa (IMO) and so 1 kongo is always lose against a New York... but 2 kongos may b different story.... u guys think this good idea?

  • Legendary Da : Hi everyone, I have one (or two) quick question about BS:M modding. I try to figure out sp mapmaking, and my first act on it was to convert a MP map to SP. However I can only play as Allies in those maps. What parameter do I have to change to play those maps as Japanese in the respective map .mpak (And where is the parameter I have to change?)?

  • The Dictator : Makeo67 i've explained how to find the unused slots in the topic and the mmod2txm it's a program that has been shared. However there aren't so many ships with unused platforms and sme of them are in wrong positions and for move them you need to know how to change the mmod file. But if you know how to do it you can make new platfors as you want. I've shared the south dakota disposition and this one is the most intersting in my opinion

  • Axis_Crusher : specific mission’s 3_scene mpak file by working on the .lua file. There is where the bonus unit is actually added into the mission (by the script). I haven't tried it myself so good luck.
  • Axis_Crusher : I assume you are talking about the bonus units that you unlock for certain missions by completing previous ones (like the B - 25’s in the 2nd Battle of Guadalcanal). The bonus units are unlocked by completing certain objectives in the campaign - so that is linked to your campaign progress. Since that cannot be altered you must look at the missiontree.lua file. This is where the unit will show up unlocked on the mission screen. There are references to allunitslock. Also you will have to edit the
  • Mokeo67 : Thank you I will look in this file. I did unlock all the campaign missions, all you have to do is delete the text after 'prerequisite' and it will unlock. But I havent figured out how to unlock the bonus units.
  • Axis_Crusher : I also prefer it being off, just as most of the BSM community. Most players, however prefer repair to be enabled so that is what we should do. Most of our maps it will be disabled through the script however. If you want to play with the game's repair settings you can find it under shipglobals.lua
