History: During the Battle of Guadalcanal "the Slot" was a hot spot for Japanese warships to bombard Guadalcanal and Henderson Field. The Japanese commander Abe brought a force of 1 CL, 11 DDs, and 2 BBs on a course to destroy U.S forces on the shores of guadalcanal and destroy Henderson Field. He wanted a clear shot at the beaches so the Cargo Fleet in the eastern zone of the slot could move in. If the Japanese had succeeded then the U.S most likely would have lost the battle. Luckily for them their recon reported the force and they moved in with 2 CAs, 8 DDs, 3 CLs, and the Enterprise elsewhere in the battlefield. After the battle was over the United States had won but it was only the first of two naval battles of Guadalcanal (we are only doing the first in
this battle).

Now like Operation: Ten-Go we (Trivia and I) are aiming for historical accuracy but fairness at the same time so I included some extra units (the U.S CV the
Wasp, Japanese CAs Mikuma, and Mogami, and Japanese Carrier Soryu) We intended for 1 side to have the aireal advantage and the other the BB advantage to allow different experiences on the map.

You may notice I included the AI controlled fleet of Japanese Minekaze Destroyers and Cargo, Troop, and Oil ships. I did this to again preserve historical accuracy.

I added a jap cv for fairness and same with subs and second us cv... We were Aiming for again 80 percent accuracy (ca for japan was also for fairness but will be a tone class)

DD Group: DD,DD,DD (cant remember how many dds and aks there were on trivia's draft so i will check)

I recommend sticking with Avengers on the Carriers beast.  The Devastator never saw military action in the Guadalcanal campaign.  In fact, they never saw action beyond the Battle of Midway.

Now that I think about it, the only major ship that TBDs ever succedded in sinking was the CVL Shoho at Coral Sea

No one will want to be Japanese player 4 so lets balance 'er out a bit. Switch the CLs with CAs, and 1 DD with CL.

done the CAs are player 4 they are both Mogami Class, 1 of the CLs is player 2, one CL is player 1 and other CL is player 4, the DD i moved from player 4 are now with Player 3 (i think) and i switched Devastators with Avengers

See?  I told you that 2 Kongos can tke on an Iowa no problem, provided that the proper tactics are used. 

BTW, can you post a picture of what the overall map looks like Katarya, I'm eager to see how it looks compared to the draft I put up.

Eh the positioning hasn't been done yet but the merch fleet is where its supposed to be and same with the Japanese BBs but I didn't touch the US yet. I promise I'll get one after I position them better.

  • Legendary Da : Hi everyone, I have one (or two) quick question about BS:M modding. I try to figure out sp mapmaking, and my first act on it was to convert a MP map to SP. However I can only play as Allies in those maps. What parameter do I have to change to play those maps as Japanese in the respective map .mpak (And where is the parameter I have to change?)?

  • The Dictator : Makeo67 i've explained how to find the unused slots in the topic and the mmod2txm it's a program that has been shared. However there aren't so many ships with unused platforms and sme of them are in wrong positions and for move them you need to know how to change the mmod file. But if you know how to do it you can make new platfors as you want. I've shared the south dakota disposition and this one is the most intersting in my opinion

  • Mokeo67 : I tried changing the bogue class carrier to a yorktown class in the phillipene sea mission and one of two things happened. The mission either didnt change or the game crashed.

  • Axis_Crusher : specific mission’s 3_scene mpak file by working on the .lua file. There is where the bonus unit is actually added into the mission (by the script). I haven't tried it myself so good luck.
  • Axis_Crusher : I assume you are talking about the bonus units that you unlock for certain missions by completing previous ones (like the B - 25’s in the 2nd Battle of Guadalcanal). The bonus units are unlocked by completing certain objectives in the campaign - so that is linked to your campaign progress. Since that cannot be altered you must look at the missiontree.lua file. This is where the unit will show up unlocked on the mission screen. There are references to allunitslock. Also you will have to edit the
  • Mokeo67 : Thank you I will look in this file. I did unlock all the campaign missions, all you have to do is delete the text after 'prerequisite' and it will unlock. But I havent figured out how to unlock the bonus units.
  • Axis_Crusher : I also prefer it being off, just as most of the BSM community. Most players, however prefer repair to be enabled so that is what we should do. Most of our maps it will be disabled through the script however. If you want to play with the game's repair settings you can find it under shipglobals.lua
