(Almost) new Midway unit

Thanks to nice idea one of our users, we decided to try to do (almost) new Midway unit.

Now first look of Kamikaze Zero in new paiting.

We still can not use new unit, but we can change some aspects and parameters. Now - i just want to ask you, do you like new Zero ?

I was helping Katarya last night with the Kamikaze concept and its nice to see a real representation of the plane. We were just using regular units with the new characteristics to test the potential. Looks a lot nicer now that it has its own model. Only thing I would change are the two bombs since the thing is already a flying bomb and I don't think they were armed with anything else due to the weight. Other than that, it looks like a thing of beauty....too bad we have to crash them into ships. ag

2 can sink a BB but I'm going to make to the amount of torps without repair(2 DD, 4 CA) but as a result there will never be 30 of these in a base. Perhaps 10 or 15.

Well one Kamikaze is enough to sink an Escort carrier (As we learned from CVE-63), yet a Tin Can (Destroyer) could take 4 and still remain afloat (As we learned from DD-724).  Theoreticly... it should take...

1 Kamikaze to sink an LST or Cargo ship

3-5 Kamikazes to sink a Destroyer

6-9 Kamikazes to sink a Light Cruiser

10-13 Kamikazes to sink a Heavy Cruiser

14-20 to sink a Battleship

10-12 to sink a Carrier

And yes, I an only guessing.

These pictures are taken from Saving Tulagi and I just tested normal Zero plane. So... I just started Zero armed with 2 x 100 kg. Hope Katarya finally will discover how to block arming these kamikaze units with bombs ag

It's possible to add a copy of a unit but with a different paint job by using a hex editor.

That's interesting. You know some tricks, which (im talking about me) could be very usable for us. What You think about give us more info about that hex editor trick (i know how to use it, but i dont know where i should look).

I have tried importing BSP MMODs into BSM but it won't work. Inside the BSM MMODs you have filenames like "simple.mvfm" and "ship.mvfm" but in BSP MMODs you get "pssn4nubn4ussn2.mvfm". We need to know more about these MMOD features. But you can use BSP .DDS textures in BSM.

Its a niffy way of duping a unit for different purposes IE "Kamakaizes!" But i quickly went through  the MMOD with the Hex editor, yea no way to add completly new units using it, mainly cause it doesnt give you the complete stuff inside it only bits and pieces more or less the texture stuff is popping up. What it needs to show more specifically is weapon placement, Model files, doodad placement, and movable effect parts on the model.

Though it still has its uses ab

Using the same hex-editing steps, you can also duplicate ship turrets, AA guns, torpedo launchers, etc.
Use your hex editor to edit a device's MMOD file and then afterwards edit the deviceclasses.lua and vehicleclasses.lua in GGame__OnInit.mpak

  • Legendary Da : Hi everyone, I have one (or two) quick question about BS:M modding. I try to figure out sp mapmaking, and my first act on it was to convert a MP map to SP. However I can only play as Allies in those maps. What parameter do I have to change to play those maps as Japanese in the respective map .mpak (And where is the parameter I have to change?)?

  • Mokeo67 : The dictator, I downloaded the mmod2txm and I added four slots to the fletcher and a couple to the lexington.Thanks for the help though.
  • The Dictator : Makeo67 i've explained how to find the unused slots in the topic and the mmod2txm it's a program that has been shared. However there aren't so many ships with unused platforms and sme of them are in wrong positions and for move them you need to know how to change the mmod file. But if you know how to do it you can make new platfors as you want. I've shared the south dakota disposition and this one is the most intersting in my opinion

  • Axis_Crusher : specific mission’s 3_scene mpak file by working on the .lua file. There is where the bonus unit is actually added into the mission (by the script). I haven't tried it myself so good luck.
  • Axis_Crusher : I assume you are talking about the bonus units that you unlock for certain missions by completing previous ones (like the B - 25’s in the 2nd Battle of Guadalcanal). The bonus units are unlocked by completing certain objectives in the campaign - so that is linked to your campaign progress. Since that cannot be altered you must look at the missiontree.lua file. This is where the unit will show up unlocked on the mission screen. There are references to allunitslock. Also you will have to edit the
  • Mokeo67 : Thank you I will look in this file. I did unlock all the campaign missions, all you have to do is delete the text after 'prerequisite' and it will unlock. But I havent figured out how to unlock the bonus units.
  • Axis_Crusher : I also prefer it being off, just as most of the BSM community. Most players, however prefer repair to be enabled so that is what we should do. Most of our maps it will be disabled through the script however. If you want to play with the game's repair settings you can find it under shipglobals.lua
