Since december 2012 Battlestations: Midway is supported by GameSpy no longer. The only one possibility for Midway players is GameRanger. Please visit www.gameranger.com, download Gameranger client and make new account. You can find other Midway players in the Gameranger rooms. BS:M patch 1.1.1 is required to play online battles. Iowa Mission Pack and Midway Modders Mappacks 1 and 2 are recommended.

Battlestations: NG. What is this and why it shold be created.

The title - Battlestations: NG is only temporary title. We can change NG or even Battlestations in the future. The title is really not important at this moment.

As we can read on Home Page - Square Enix decided to close Eidos Hungary. It means the old developper team is fired and they will not work on any new DLC or any new Batrlestations game.

And after months of researching we probably lost our hope for breaking MMOD format. A fileformat for units and models using in both: BSP and BSM. We also tried to get help from Eidos (it not working) and from Eidos Hungary devs (they answered to us, promised that "we will try to help you" but after 3 months of waiting we can only say that, they will not help us.

In short it means - we are alone. And Battlestations is intended to be extinct. Like dinosaurs.

With all these facts new Battlestations game created by us (Midway Modders) is the only hope.

We are not sure we can do it. We can promise that - we will try. We also have a hope for bigger support coming from community. It means - from You.

How much time it can take ? We don't know. A year, maybe two. We will see and we will keep informing comunity about progress.At this moment it's only a beginning.

Just keep doing what yr doing peeps,everyone that still plays greatly appreciates all that the modding team are doing to keep this game alive.
Any thing that the team comes up with is better than what we have.

Yes - that's the main idea. Something like Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. Free to download, free to play. However, we must invest some money to buy some licenses. Especially license for game engine. So it's possible we will change status from freeware to donateware. But only for these who wants to donate.

BS.EU has 2200 unique visitors per month. Big number of them is interesting with playing BSM. New game will be very similar to BSM. We decided to try to create  it, because we want to add more units, more nationalities, more weapons and we can't do it with existing BSM engine. We also want to have control on graphic of the game - improve it a little. It's not so hard, because BSM was released almost 4 years ago, when Pixel Shader 2.0 was best  possible option. Have you aver tried to ask Google for "Midway Modders Mappack 1 download"??? There is about 40 sites offering our mappacks. And it's only mod. I'm ;a;smost sure, the game will be more easy to promote it. There is also big job for our members. Keep adding info about our project on some websites. Especially game websites. But not now. Hard to promote something what does not exists. Give us some time.

I just would like to know, has anything been done regarding the game at this point?

ie. What we want, a basic idea of the style of the game (By this I mean are we going with a Midway type storyline with us focusing on one character going through WWII, or a Pacific style storyline where we don't follow a specific character), or even if roles have been established (By this I mean do we know who our core group of modders is for making this game)

Oh, and BTW, as for an official title of this new game, well that depends on what direction we will go in.

ie. Are we just doing WWII, or will we also do WWI and the interwar period?
    Are we just doing the Pacific, or will we also do the Atlantic.  Perhaps even the African or Aleutian fronts?
    Are we going to do Ships and planes equally, or put more emphasis on one than the other? 
    (BTW, will we include Amphibious operations?  I'd like to have levels that have Tarawa, D-Day, and others like that)

  *Of course, we CAN NOT use "Battlestations" in the title, because Edios probably has copyright on that name

  • Legendary Da : Hi everyone, I have one (or two) quick question about BS:M modding. I try to figure out sp mapmaking, and my first act on it was to convert a MP map to SP. However I can only play as Allies in those maps. What parameter do I have to change to play those maps as Japanese in the respective map .mpak (And where is the parameter I have to change?)?

  • Mokeo67 : The dictator, I downloaded the mmod2txm and I added four slots to the fletcher and a couple to the lexington.Thanks for the help though.
  • The Dictator : Makeo67 i've explained how to find the unused slots in the topic and the mmod2txm it's a program that has been shared. However there aren't so many ships with unused platforms and sme of them are in wrong positions and for move them you need to know how to change the mmod file. But if you know how to do it you can make new platfors as you want. I've shared the south dakota disposition and this one is the most intersting in my opinion

  • Mokeo67 : I tried changing the bogue class carrier to a yorktown class in the phillipene sea mission and one of two things happened. The mission either didnt change or the game crashed.

  • Axis_Crusher : specific mission’s 3_scene mpak file by working on the .lua file. There is where the bonus unit is actually added into the mission (by the script). I haven't tried it myself so good luck.
  • Axis_Crusher : I assume you are talking about the bonus units that you unlock for certain missions by completing previous ones (like the B - 25’s in the 2nd Battle of Guadalcanal). The bonus units are unlocked by completing certain objectives in the campaign - so that is linked to your campaign progress. Since that cannot be altered you must look at the missiontree.lua file. This is where the unit will show up unlocked on the mission screen. There are references to allunitslock. Also you will have to edit the
  • Mokeo67 : Thank you I will look in this file. I did unlock all the campaign missions, all you have to do is delete the text after 'prerequisite' and it will unlock. But I havent figured out how to unlock the bonus units.
  • Axis_Crusher : I also prefer it being off, just as most of the BSM community. Most players, however prefer repair to be enabled so that is what we should do. Most of our maps it will be disabled through the script however. If you want to play with the game's repair settings you can find it under shipglobals.lua
