Since december 2012 Battlestations: Midway is supported by GameSpy no longer. The only one possibility for Midway players is GameRanger. Please visit www.gameranger.com, download Gameranger client and make new account. You can find other Midway players in the Gameranger rooms. BS:M patch 1.1.1 is required to play online battles. Iowa Mission Pack and Midway Modders Mappacks 1 and 2 are recommended.

    Looks like JSGME is a problem on some PCs (not for me - personally i like it. First i was thinking about ms-dos script, but when you told me about JSGME I found its good solution for managing installed mods).

    But in case when it not working (no idea why - maybe Vista or Win7 privileges - need more details) that ms dos script can be solution for these who can't run JSGME.

    Mind explaining what the shortcomings are so I can fix them instead of complaining the mod isnt good enough? I am the only one who made and adjusted the whole mod, one person is bound to miss some things so give me some slack

    I would like to create a few maps. What are the tools for making functional maps? Is it possible to make single player missions? I like the realism mods but the maps are not set up as they would under realism conditions. This is apparent with subs. They would start of closer to the target. Subs are super slow, 8 knots underwater. It might take them 6+ hours to position close enough for engagement once they have intelligence on an approaching convoy, they would have many miles of planning to get into position. So the start point of any sub map would have them positioned at the point of attack, or at least at a vector point where they would be able engage. Subs at his speed cannot chase. This is more about a mod map pack working with realism mods.
    The only other quibble I have is ship to ship combat, where ships hit and engines are knocked out. It's too black and white. A ship is hit hard and it stops. Studying direct engagement in the battle of Jutland and Dogger Bank from WWI, ships took tremendous hits, but most were still able to move, even DDs. I think the engines are the hardest things to knock out completely because of their location, typically when you do knock them out they sink as well. Because when a shell or two hits that deep it's going to put a hole in the hull. The damaged rudder was the common sitting duck situation. In Jutland there were a good number of ships crippled in that they moved but had no guns, tower, etc. I say make it a little harder for engine to be knocked out, make the hit target for engines smaller, harder to hit directly, yes reduce speed for general damage because there is secondary reasons for engine failings, i.e. flooding or shaft damage. With bigger ships you can knock out one engine room, but still have the second one functioning. And if the engines are knocked out completely, I say the ship is sunk, put a delay before it sinks like 20 twenty seconds if that is possible so they can fire off dying salvos.
    Anyhoo, overall you did a splendid job, bravo!

    check your PM's for the map making guide access password, it's not like working with a nice program like the Warcraft 3 editor so you have been warned.

    Yea I only made minor adjustments to the maps in multiplayer, since my job was to mod stats, not to remake every single map. I never did a huge overhaul of each map, + considering I was working alone it was a pretty big task.. Also I am very aware with the sub's issue of not being able to catch their intended targets due to positioning, I kinda got hogged up in other work and shelved the project which is why it was never fixed. Also concerning engines, its all one piece not separate, so you cant get damaged engines yet still be running at lets say half speed, its how the game was designed sadly.

    And lastly yes its very possible to make SP maps, the only difference is you have to code in an AI, which is the hard part.

    Would make the mod insanely larger then necessary and would require a complete re-balancing of the entire single player campaign if enough people really want it I can do it but otherwise I wont.
