Pacific modding team

For a long time, the Battlestations Midway community modding has been privileged by having a full modding team from this forum that made great accomplishments by creating new content that truly extended the lifetime of the game. Now it's time for Battlestations Pacific to enjoy same.

Very few mods have been released for Pacific, in fact enough for me to list them :

  • Mods that changes the command points stock in island capture, allowing for bigger battles, even enormous ones.
  • The huge map mod, unlocking bigger battlegrounds for island capture.
  • A realism mod from Kraizen praised for its quality greatly focussing on delivering very realistic characteristics to the gameplay.
  • A texture mod made by me to change the look of sets of units in the game, adding details.
  • BSmodHQ v.1.0 & v.2.0 that changed a lot of balance values and addressing many community complaints such as Ohka rushing, the need for more IC CP, etc.

Battlestations: Midway - cruiser HMS Dorsetshire, first custom ship in game.

Long time ago we published article about our big step forward in modding Battlestations: Midway. One of our members, Gaming-for-dummies, found out how to add new maps to the game. Thanks to his work we were able to build and release free mappacks for all Battlestations: Midway fans. With mappack 2, so much different then mappack 1, it was easy to see that our modding skill is growing with new sounds, textures, and additional scripts (Kwajalein). But we always feel that, we need to do more most important we feel that we need new units, not only the ones which we can find in single player maps but brand new ones. I must say that, sometimes I lost hope in our ability to make this, me and a number of our members have visited many forums, to ask for help with breaking the code. But no help came from this direction some of these guys tried to help us, but without success. More, we contacted the developers of Midway and we have asked them for help. But "if you want something to be done good, do it yourself", some of our members started their own researching for Battlestations: Midway fileformat. I was really excited when I had a chance to watch their progress. It took us a year, and it was a really hard job. Do you know how hard it was? Try to open any picture (JPG for example) using Notepad. You will see what they needed to understand and make it work...

Battlestations: Midway - Skinpack Released

Do you read our forums sometimes? If yes, you probably know about Skinpack. New Midway Modders production will change the look of our classic multiplayer maps. New textures for planes, ships, buildings and some other stuff can refresh old and famous Battle of Coral Sea, Solomon Islands,  Battle of Surigao Strait and other classic maps. You probably know some of these textures, because they were used in Mappack 2, but together with Skinppack there is nice pack of new and never used textures. Thanks to awesome job one of our members - Oomperial - we have nice texture pack for japanese ships. Now Yamato, Kongo, Fuso, japanese cruisers and Fubuki have new look. More powerfull and more dangerous. That's not all, some of new  textures are using four times greater resolution. Ships are more detailed now. Read more for more technical details.
